was founded in 1995 by Derek Bell after studying Commerce at Canterbury University. Upon deciding that his passion was manufacturing, his objectives were to design, develop and market a range of top quality sheepskin footwear made in New Zealand.
The company started off with a staff of 2 and has grown to a staff of 30 ranging from machinists, cutters, packers/finishers.
From those humble beginnings, Golden Fleece sells to chain stores and souvenir shops throughout New Zealand with export sales continuing to grow, expanding to Australia, USA, Canada and Russia. Export sales now account for over 70% of the companys production, all of which is manufactured at our premises in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Golden Fleece manufactures and wholesales different types of footwear from scuffs (shearling/twinface/hide), mens and womens slippers, childrens footwear, boots (with EVA sole and side stitch) using only the best quality sheepskin available from both local and international tanneries.
Production has increased rapidly and reached a production capacity of 500 pairs per day.
We attribute our success to being a market driven company - listening to what our customers need and interpreting those needs into well designed products, manufactured at premium quality standards.
We look forward to working with you on your next future sheepskin footwear requirements.
